Meet the Artist

Brittany Newton

Hi, I'm Brittany. I’m a mostly self-taught ceramic artist and stay-at-home mom living in the mountains of Western North Carolina. My creative practice has grown in the in-between moments of motherhood. The rhythm of family life naturally weaves itself into my work, teaching me patience, presence, and the beauty of slow, intentional making.

I’m drawn to forms that feel grounding and comfortable—mugs that warm your hands on cool mountain mornings, bowls that hold shared meals, and vessels that become part of daily rituals. I believe pottery should be both beautiful and useful, bringing art into the simple moments of everyday life.

The mountains surrounding my home deeply influence my work. I’m inspired by nature’s earth tones—rich clay browns, mossy greens, misty grays, and sandy neutrals. At the same time, I’m captivated by the vibrant colors of sunrises over the ridgelines and the vast, star-filled skies above. Soft blush pinks, fiery oranges, deep indigos, and celestial speckles often find their way into my glazes, blending the steady calm of the earth with the brilliance of the cosmos.

Being largely self-taught has shaped my journey as an artist. I’ve learned through experimentation, persistence, and embracing both successes and kiln surprises. Each piece I create reflects growth, curiosity, and a love for the process.

Through my pottery, I hope to bring warmth, connection, and a touch of mountain magic into the homes of others—creating functional art that feels as meaningful as it is beautiful.
